The SA/NT branch draws its membership from a diverse pool of professionals which include radiation oncology medical physicists, diagnostic imaging medical physicists, academics and teaching staff, radiation protection practitioners, radiopharmaceutical scientists, biomedical engineering, regulators, and other industry experts. Our branch shares the same mission and vision as the national body, acting as a bridge between its local members and the ACPSEM, however also with specific focus to issues relevant to South Australia and Northern Territory. The branch supports and organises continuing professional development activities.

The day-to-day running of the branch is done by a Branch Committee which meets every second month. The branch holds an Annual Meeting where issues pertinent to the various member professions are discussed as arising locally or from the national body. We also host an Annual Student Night Paper where post-graduate students from local universities present their research. Prizes are awarded to encourage participation with the main aim being to encourage research.

It’s not all formal number crunching physics and engineering meetings, the branch also provides a platform for social interaction between members by organising social events, for example, barbeque afternoons or after work drinks.
